Earlier this month, ATEC Group had the chance to attend The New York Bankers Association Technology, Compliance & Risk Management Forum at the Saratoga Hilton. Our Account Executives enjoyed connecting with experienced banking professionals here in Upstate, NY and found this year’s focus on compliance and risk management to be very informative!
Here’s what they had to say:
“The NY Bankers Association Forum allowed us to get an even better handle on the needs and pain points that banks are facing today in relation to risk and IT security. I was pleasantly surprised to hear that many of the banks at the conference were already using tools to improve the security awareness of their end users, such as KnowBe4, one of our partners here at ATEC!
My favorite session of the conference walked users through how hackers see their network. Many businesses see a good score on a security posture assessment or vulnerability assessment and think they are safe. However, the session correctly pointed out the false sense of security some of these tools can provide and how businesses are often still vulnerable.
For example, network design, social engineering, and security questions can all make a business more vulnerable, but would not necessarily show up on the assessments that are mandated by cybersecurity regulations. There are ways to mitigate these risks, such as rolling out a 2 Factor Authentication method and containerizing devices so that business data remains separate from personal, but unfortunately, these items are often undervalued. I enjoyed chatting with attendees about how ATEC Group’s holistic approach to cybersecurity can help to reduce these vulnerabilities for financial institutions.”

“It was wonderful to see the bankers again this year. As a 9-time veteran of the NYBA conference, I always enjoy seeing old faces and meeting new individuals every year I attend!
This year, I engaged in many conversations about mobility and learned that many of the banks in attendance were already using AirWatch as an MDM Solution. I was excited to share that VMware has now integrated AirWatch into their Workspace One Product! This allows you to manage mobile devices and provides users with a secure way to gain access to all of their applications from anywhere and anytime using any device.
I also had many conversations surrounding vSphere Horizon View and Horizon for VDI. Every once in a while, we run into a customer who has no virtualization in their environment. We hope that because of the experience we bring to the financial industry, that we can educate them and help bankers to understand the benefits of virtualization for their organization!”
