Hello ATEC Group Blog Readers! It’s Allison from Marketing here. Every month, I interview a member of our knowledgeable sales team to learn more about the exciting technology solutions offered by our partners.
This month, we’re chatting with Bill Craver, Senior Account Executive and Workload Automation Champion, about the recent sale of Cisco Tidal Enterprise Scheduler. We’ll also learn more about ATEC Group’s preferred workload automation solution, BMC Control-M.
AS: To start off, can you expand on the current status of Tidal Enterprise Scheduler (TES)?
BC: While the Tidal Enterprise Scheduler workload automation tool was previously a Cisco product, it was actually acquired by Dillon Kane Group (DKG) in November 2017.
AS: What does this acquisition mean for TES user support?
BC: Businesses that have previously purchased extended TES contracts through Cisco may still access Cisco support for the remainder of the contract. However, new users and those with upcoming contract renewals must now seek support directly from DKG. Cisco is known for their excellent support, but with a new third-party company managing Tidal, users risk not knowing exactly what their support experience or service wait times will be like.
AS: Why does ATEC Group choose to partner with BMC Control-M for workload automation?
BC: BMC Control-M is the top-rated workload automation tool on the market. Not only has BMC been in the business for 25+ years, but their support is truly unparalleled. BMC Control-M significantly reduces the cost associated with managing production workload, provides robust and scalable support for all enterprise production workloads, maximizes availability and quality of service for the batch-related portion of business services, and reduces the “time to market” for deployments. TES simply does not do this to the same level.
AS: Can ATEC Group assist users with migrations from Tidal to Control-M if they are interested in utilizing a new workload automation solution?
BC: We have experience helping many medium and enterprise businesses migrate from TES to BMC Control-M. After performing an extensive system audit, we utilize phased and documented procedures to ensure that your workload automation migration is a seamless and stress-free process.
AS: Learning an entirely new workload automation tool can seem daunting for many. Does ATEC Group assist with training?
BC: Yes! Our engineers are the best in the business, with an average of 10+ year’s enterprise scheduling experience. We can certainly assist in training for businesses that have used TES or other workload automation tools in the past. Our engineers take the time to understand your environment then work with you to build a custom program to ensure that your team has the skills they need to get the job done.
